Review of Online Activity

Written on 3:18 PM by Kirsty Smith 112

This project has taught me lots about blogging online and becoming part of a online network community. I posted comments to other students in the Design 112 paper, and these included encouraging comments about their work. I enjoyed checking out other students sites and seeing their ideas, talents and character's coming through in their blogs. It was awesome to read comments that other students had left on my blog as they were also positive and encouraging.

Real Life Network

Here is a series of photos that shows myself being invovled in a Real Life Network. I enjoy making Jewellery as a hobby and decided that it would be a good idea to use this for my network. The photos show me entering the store, creating a piece of jewellery (a bracelet) while interacting with other jewellery makers, paying for the beads i used then exiting the store. The bracelet i made consists of alternating black and red oval beads.

Here are some more websites that show my interests.

This website includes images of glass art such as vases, paper weights and bowls. The site also includes information about the process of glass blowing. It involves alot of talent and skill to create these beautiful pieces and the photos of these images give the artist justice.

This is the website of contemporary Nelson artist, Phill Krammer. His artwork is amazing, mainly focusing on New Zealand landscape. This website includes information on the artist and also a gallery of his previous work.

Blogs of Interest

Here ive posted some websites that i found interesting. The links are included in this post, check them out and let me know what you think.

http://twentytwentyone.blogspot.com/

This blog has a range of photos covering a range of design aspects. It also includes links to various different blogs/websites, including designers, architects, and building materials. I like the simple layout of this blog, the white background with clear and colourful photos down the centre, and the text is easy to read.

http://archidose.blogspot.com/

The layout and design of this blog could be improved, however the blog includes some amazing architecture and design from around the world. The blog has a number of links to outside sites providing more information on each design.

http://www.notcot.org/

This site includes over hundreds of links to a wide range of subjects such as design, buildings, advertisements, art, and design books. This website held my attention because of the wide range of things it includes but also because each link has a clear, reasonably sized photo to represent the link as well as a brief comment.

Design 101 Project Three-Mapping

Written on 1:59 PM by Kirsty Smith 112

This piece of work is taken from Project Three in the Design 101 paper. The task was to 'add' and 'subtract' bricks from the existing form given to us and looks at three point perspective technical drawing and using water colours. Once the final form was drawn, each face of the bricks were to be painted using water colour paints, using the same colours that were used in a earlier task for this project. I enjoyed this task as it had a mix of technical drawing and painting, using a media that was new to me. Experimenting with shadows and the true shade of colours as the bricks were closer or further from the viewer's eye was the part I enjoyed the most. I chose this piece to show because of what I learnt from doing this task, such as three point perspective, water colours and portraying shadows.
